How Much Is Parking in Point Pleasant Beach?

$2.50 per hour on weekdays and $3.25 per hour on weekends and holidays, at street meters and at the Inlet Drive and Little Silver Lake municipal lots. Those rates apply from March 1 through October 31, and the important detail is that they are charged 24 hours a day — there is no overnight window where the meters switch off.

The cheapest parking in town is the Railroad Station Lot at $2.50 for a full 24 hours on weekdays between May 15 and September 15. That is the same money an hour of street parking costs on a Saturday.

Street Meters and the Municipal Lots

These rates cover street meters, the Inlet Drive Municipal Lot and the Little Silver Lake Municipal Lot. Fees are in effect seven days a week, 24 hours a day, March 1 to October 31.

Note where the weekend actually starts. The higher rate kicks in at 6:00 PM on Friday and does not drop back until 2:00 AM on Monday, which covers the entire stretch most visitors are in town.

The Railroad Station Lot

The train station lot runs on a completely different pricing structure, and it is the best value in town if you are leaving a car for more than a few hours.

The station lot season is May 15 to September 15, slightly shorter than the March–October window that applies everywhere else. A weekday at $2.50 for the full 24 hours is the single cheapest way to leave a car anywhere near the boardwalk.

Paying: Meters, Machines and Space Numbers

Point Pleasant Beach runs two different systems, and which one you are dealing with depends on where you park.

• Traditional meters take quarters and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard). Feed them for however long you expect to stay.
• Pay by Number machines ask for the number painted on your space, not your plate. You get a receipt, and there is nothing to display on the dashboard.

Two things worth knowing before you feed a machine: no change is given, so exact dollar amounts only, and there are no refunds. If you overpay for a spot you are leaving early, that money is gone.

Side Streets, Overnight: You Need a Placard

This is the rule that catches renters out, because it has nothing to do with meters. Under the Borough's resident parking permit programme, parking in non-metered spaces inside the covered residential area is restricted to vehicles displaying a valid Borough parking placard between 12:30 AM and 4:00 AM, from May 15 to September 15.

So a free-looking spot on a residential side street is fine all afternoon and evening — and a ticket at half past midnight. The placards are issued by the Borough to resident taxpayers in that area. There is a limited-duration guest placard, but it covers a maximum of three days and has to be applied for at least 72 hours in advance, which does not fit a week-long stay.

Point Pleasant Beach Borough Code § 9-17. The covered area is bounded roughly by Broadway to the north, the railroad tracks and St. Louis Avenue to the west, Forman Avenue to the south and the ocean to the east, excluding Arnold and Ocean Avenues.

What a Week of Parking Actually Costs

Because the meters never switch off in season, a car left in a metered space for a full Saturday-to-Saturday week is being charged the whole time, including while you sleep. At the borough's published rates that works out like this for a stay running Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning:

That is arithmetic on the published hourly rates, not a quoted weekly price. Not every street in town is metered, and plenty of visitors mix metered spaces with the station lot. It is meant to show the scale of what running a meter for a week adds up to — roughly $885 if you brought two cars.

Parking That Comes With the House

Lake Louise Beach House includes free on-site parking for two cars plus a Level 2 (J1772) EV charger for a small per-kWh fee. The car goes on the driveway when you arrive on Saturday and does not move again until you leave.

Bringing more than two cars? The house sits inside the Borough's covered area and comes with three Borough parking passes for side-street parking — the placards that make an overnight spot on a residential street legal during the 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM restricted window. Guests booking a week cannot obtain these themselves, because the limited-duration guest placard tops out at three days and needs 72 hours' notice. They come with the house.

In practice that means a group can arrive in up to five cars and park all of them legally: two on the driveway and three on the street.
